Under such scenarios, we either talk to the third-party vendor to see if the issue can be resolved within a stipulated time frame without delaying our go-live, or we look for a workaround. In case the 3rd party system is not stable/reliable, we can build middleware to remove a single point of failure and real-time dependency on 3rd party systems.

What happens when you don’t have experience working with specific ERPs/third-party systems?

That is never an issue as most systems provide interoperability, ability to connect with any other systems using common interface standards like REST/SOAP APIs. In the event you have a legacy system that doesn’t provide integration APIs, we will work with your vendor to come up with a custom solution.

What if my ERP/3rd party APIs are not ready in time for go-live?

Integration is a critical piece for any eCommerce implementation. We frontload integration work, so there is ample time for producing, testing, and certifying these APIs. We’ll factor-in API project time into our roadmap to come up with a schedule that is viable for all parties. And if you don’t have enough inhouse bandwidth, Ziffity can form a separate team to work on your API project.

What happens when my ERP/3rd party system goes through an upgrade?

As a practice, we avoid system designs, which leads to a single point of failure. It means that even if you have an unplanned/emergency upgrade happening on your third party systems, the eCommerce platform will continue to work smoothly. We work with our customers on planned outages/upgrades to make sure it has little or no impact on the eCommerce end, and any corresponding changes on the eCommerce side are done well within schedule.

How do you determine the timeframe and effort required for integration?

Typically it depends on 3 factors – Number of touchpoints, complexity level, and customization required to make it work. Unlike most agencies, we start our development work with integration, providing us enough room to manage all risks/challenges effectively without impacting the project.

What happens if for some reason integration fails among systems?

Before going live, we make sure that there are enough fallback mechanisms in place so that, at no point, failure of one system leads to cascading failure of all other systems. If a system fails, there would be immediate notifications/alerts to required stakeholders, so they can respond & resolve things quickly.
