Magento has released 2.3.3, the latest version with upgrades, security changes, and PSD2-compliant core payment methods. The updates range from small fixes of core code to key enhancements.In total, there are 170 functional fixes and 75+ security enhancements and 200+ contributions from community members as well. Let’s explore the major updates here.
Security-only patch
Sellers can now use time-sensitive, security-only patches instead of quarterly releases like Magento 2.3.3. For instance, if you have installed Patch 2.3.2.1, install Patch 2.3.2.2 as it contains all the critical security fixes available in the full quarterly release (i.e., Magento 2.3.3).
Platform upgrades
Magento 2.3.3 supports PHP 7.3.x (tested with PHP 7.3.8) and PHP 7.2.x (tested with 7.2.21) and supports Varnish 6.2.0. Also, Zend Framework 2 Components have been upgraded to Active/LTS versions.
Merchant tool improvements
With Magento 2.3.3, Admin can track (after obtaining user’s permission) the various actions and events such as page views, save actions and Magento mode changes.
Performance enhancements
- Merchants can use the Generate “category/product” URL Rewrites configuration option to turn off automatic URL rewrite generation, a default occurrence when product category is saved.
- By pushing non-critical CSS elements to the bottom of the page, loading time has been improved. To enable this feature, navigate to Stores -> Configuration -> Advanced -> Developer -> CSS Settings -> Use CSS critical path.
- WYSIWYG edition has been upgraded to TinyMCE v.4.9.5
Inventory Management
The latest version, Inventory Management 1.1.3 is compatible with Magento 2.3.3, 2.3.2, 2.3.1 and 2.3.0. This version has features specific to B2B Commerce such as Order by SKU, Quick order and Requisition lists. Further, the Storefront catalog browsing performance and the automated “Functional and Integration” test coverage has also been increased.
GraphQL
GraphQL functionality is expanded and supports the tasks such as Process payments through PayPal Express checkout, Payflow Pro and Link Express Checkout, etc., You can redeem gift cards, update shopping carts for guest users and add configurable products to cart.
PWA Studio
Magento 2.3.3 includes PWA Studio 4.0.0 with new Peregrine hooks including Toast hooks, ToastContainer, useWindowSize (), useRestApi (), useRestResponse (), useScrollLock(), usePagination(), useEventListener() and useCarousel(). Recatored components have been added to existing components and consists of List, List Items, List Item in Peregrine, Category in RootComponent, Header, Checkout, MiniCart, Image and ProductFullDetail in Venia.
Google Shopping ads Channel
Google Shopping ads Channel Marketplace extension is made available in Magento 2.3.3 as a bundled extension. So, it doesn’t require separate installation. The latest version (v3.0.1) of Google Shopping ads Channel has got index management issues, fixed. Previous version (v3.0.0) had the ‘Enable Services Logs’ feature, resolved configurable product issues, index management improvements, security and product attribute updates.

Magento Shipping
The new version brings improvements like Pre-Packaged Assignment for Simple and Bundle product types. Minor improvements have been made in Carriers and Locations configurations, Batch Processing, Shipment Workflow, Returns Workflow and Dispatch Workflow.
Vendor-development extension enhancements
Magento 2.3.3 includes 3rd party extensions including vendor-supplied extension, Yotpo. Amazon Pay is now compliant with PSD2 directive.
dotdigital
In dotdigital, product catalog sync for bundled and custom products and communications for abandoned cart have been improved.
Klarna
With Magento 2.3.3 Klarna extension, sellers can block the customer information from being sent. B2B transactions in select markets and PayBright, Canadian payment coverage option are supported.
Vertex
Sellers can use Vertex Flexible Fields to send additional information to the tax engine for refining a product’s applicable tax (as per Tax Assist Rules). Admin-created customer attributes are now available as default. Further, custom fields can be added to the Vertex connector.
Yotpo
User-generated content management platform, Yotpo, is now part of Magento Admin. With Yotpo, sellers can collect, curate and manage user-generated content, particularly, product reviews.
